Delamotte, large paper edition with notes by Frank Buckland and Antiquities by Lord Selborne, publisher's full morocco binding, 4to, v.g. Tipped in is a 2 pp. ALS (dated 1872) from Professor Thomas Bell (author of British Quadrupeds, British Reptiles, etc.) with which he encloses original photographs of "The Wakes", Gilbert White's house and surroundings at Selborne, six of which are pasted into the back of these volumes. Thomas Bell himself lived in "The Wakes" from 1844 until his death at the advanced age of 87 in 1880. Bell's own two volume edition of Selborne, which includes a lot of original material, was published in 1877.
